Welcome Hub Volunteers Training - Session 1, Afternoon 11th Oct

11/10/2022 1:15 pm - 11/09/2022 2:45 pm
Free

Bridges are delighted to be able to offer training for those volunteering at Welcome Hubs across the city.

Over two 1.5 hour sessions, we’ll cover a range of topics including cultural awareness and culture shock, an introduction to the hub model and role of volunteers, trauma and wellbeing, boundaries and confidentiality, and ways to signpost towards other support available here in Bristol.

We hope it will better equip you to be part of Bristol’s response to the war in Ukraine and enable you to help build a welcoming space for those fleeing here for safety.

Participants must attend both sessions 1 and 2, but can choose when they do so. Please register in advance and we will send you a Zoom link ahead of the session.

Peace Feast - Refugee Voices with Elika Ansari

23/10/2022 7:00 pm -9:00 pm
12.00

We are delighted to be partnering with Storytale Festival and St Pauls Church in Southville to put on this special Peace Feast featuring guest speaker Elika Ansari.

With all that’s been happening in the world this year with the war in Ukraine, there’s never been a more important time to talk about the refugee crisis. Join humanitarian writer Elika Ansari for this in-person meal and digital event as she shares her first-hand experience of working in the infamous Moria refugee camp on the island of Lesbos, Greece, three years before it burned down in September 2020. Elika has turned her experience into the book: The 5 Stages of Moria: the Worst Refugee Camp on Earth, which gives a fascinating insight into the harrowing reality of being a refugee.

For more information and to book tickets, go to Refugee Voices - a Peace Feast with Bridges for Communities Tickets, Sun 23 Oct 2022 at 19:00 | Eventbrite.
