Bristol School Linking update - Jan 2021

Our new Bristol School Linking project was launched in the autumn term, and is continuing to move forwards despite the closure of schools in January and February.

The project partners year 5 classes from across Bristol’s diverse primary schools to enable children from different geographical, ethnic, religious and socio-economic backgrounds to work together to explore four key questions: 'Who am I? Who are we? Where do we live? And how do we all live together?’. Whilst exploring these questions, classes digitally connect to build friendships and understanding across perceived divides in & around Bristol.

We’ve now delivered two online teacher trainings, and partnered 10 classes across 6 schools. Due to schools being closed to the majority of children at the moment, teachers are planning to deliver the linking project across the summer term. We can’t wait to see what the children learn together!

In the meantime we have been busy recruiting further schools and have had interest from 12 more schools. This is a great indication of the support for this project in and around Bristol despite the current pressures schools and teachers find themselves under.

As we wait for lockdown restrictions to ease, we have been supporting schools by sharing remote learning resources to support PSHE & citizenship curriculums which are ready for teachers to send direct to those learning from home. You can access these resources here if you wish to use them.
