Walk with Me - Spring 2022 Update

Over the frosty winter months and bright spring sunshine, we've had the honour of running some wonderful walks in and around the city, for families from all over the world as well as Bristolians of all kinds. We have been fortunate enough to partner with some fantastic organisations and businesses in Bristol who have hosted us in a variety of locations, and these walks always facilitate conversation and interaction between those attending, allowing every person to share with another about themselves and create new friendships.

The winter walks kicked off in Staple Hill, hosted by the delightful Bean Tree Café in Page Park. A nice leisurely stroll was followed by hot teas and coffees in the café.

Our December walk, in partnership with Bristol Refugee Festival, was hosted by SS Great Britain where we had many families come to enjoy a private lunch and then a tour of the ship (complete with artificial snow!) – a fun experience for both the adults and children.

Early January we braved the cold air and took a full coach of families to Ashton court. Luckily the sun shone and we could all enjoy a long walk around the grounds, visiting the deer and finding a sheltered sunny area for tea and cake before heading home.

Mid-February we were hosted at Redcatch Community Gardens and were treated to a treasure hunt for the kids and a vegetable patch tour. The uncharacteristically warm March weather meant many of the families stayed for many hours at the park after the event!

Lovely outing. Thanks for organising it. My family absolutely loved it and didn’t want to go home... one of the boys said, ‘Can we come tomorrow?’’’

Our March walk was with the Quakers, a very warm and welcoming community, where we explored the Downs together.

We have had the pleasure of walking with over 170 individuals this winter and spring, with the walks being thoroughly enjoyed by all. We look forward to continuing to host more walks into the summer months, and expanding our adventures outside of the city.

Massive thanks to all our staff, generous partners and volunteers who made this all happen.
