Thanks to Brunel's SS Great Britain for a marvellous Peace Feast! In the stunning dining room of the ship we tucked into a delicious three-course, locally-sourced meal, courtesy of Houria Catering, shared stories of formative journeys with new friends and listened to the dulcet tones and Middle Eastern / North African riffs of Soufian Saihi. Thanks to our speakers, SS Great Britain's resident historian James for sharing some fascinating insights into life on the high seas in the ship's heyday, Natalie for the fun and thought-provoking Victorian food activity, to Mohammed Kamal for his inspiring and entertaining speech on his journey from Sudan to Bristol and from security to academia and finally to culinary entrepreneur Kim from Houria Catering, for sharing the vision of a world free from modern slavery, where women are empowered by their creative talents and culinary skills.
Here's what some of our guests had to say at the end of the evening:
"Very inclusive, very informative, an open and friendly atmosphere that we'd definitely come back."
"A brilliant way to connect with people from all kinds of cultures."
"Amazing venue, great food, lovely conversations."
"Inclusive, amazing people, great conversations, eye-opening speeches."
