RefuLingua Project Update - Aug 2021

Refulingua have just completed the summer term of spoken Arabic classes in Levantine dialect. We ran classes at five different levels, with a new pilot higher level class, as well as a new class in the Sudanese Arabic dialect. We were happy that all the classes were well subscribed with lots of students continuing from the previous terms.

The tutors have also made great progress in their teaching, trying new styles and developing confidence in their teaching practices. This term we have been especially happy to be able to offer employment to four of our tutors, who until now have been volunteering with the project. We hope these four will become the core group of teachers who will teach group and one-to-one lessons in the upcoming year.

Coming to the end of the year we have been evaluating the impact and progress of the project, and reflecting on its future. The project has changed irrevocably over the pandemic, in many ways for the better, and we are thinking seriously now which direction to take it in. We hope that the future of Refulingua will include other community and refugee languages, so please do watch this space for more updates!
